Clawdius’ Birthday Game Postponed to February 1 for Fan & Community Safety
The Athens Rock Lobsters announced today that Saturday’s highly anticipated game on January 24 (Clawdius’ Birthday) has been postponed out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of fans, the community, players, staff, and traveling mascots.
While the organization was excited to celebrate Clawdius with a packed house and an electric atmosphere, the evolving weather landscape made it clear that attempting to force the event this weekend would place unnecessary risk on everyone involved. From fan travel and community conditions to team operations and mascot attendance, safety remains the Rock Lobsters’ top priority — no exceptions.
“We would love to play,” Scott Hull, President of the Athens Rock Lobsters stated, “but no game is worth risking the well-being of our fans, our community, our players, or anyone traveling to be part of this experience. Protecting people will always come first.”
After extensive deliberation and coordination between the Athens Rock Lobsters, Biloxi Breakers, and Akins Ford Arena, the postponed game has officially been rescheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 4:05 PM. This date was previously on the schedule and will now serve as the makeup game for Clawdius’ Birthday celebration.
The organization sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this change may cause. Every effort was made in hopes that conditions would improve enough to allow the team to “show up and show out” for the incredible crowd that was expected. Unfortunately, postponing the game was the most responsible and community-focused decision.
Additional details regarding tickets, promotions, and Clawdius’ rescheduled birthday celebration will be shared soon. The Athens Rock Lobsters appreciate the continued understanding and support of their fans and look forward to celebrating together safely on February 1.
Ticket Information: All tickets purchased for the originally scheduled January 24 game will automatically be transferred and honored for the rescheduled date on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 4:05 PM. Fans who are unable to attend the new date and would like to exchange their tickets for a different game may contact the Rock Lobsters Front Office at 706-510-2959 for assistance.
